What are plastic particles and what are their uses?

Plastic particles are raw materials used for storing, transporting, and processing plastics in semi-finished form, commonly known as plastic pellets. Its raw materials are monomers such as ethylene, propylene, vinyl chloride, styrene, etc. generated from petroleum processing, which react to form polymer compounds. The classification includes polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polystyrene (PS), etc.Plastic pellets are key raw materials for the production of plastic products such as injection molding machines. During storage, it is necessary to prevent moisture, static electricity, and keep away from chemicals. Leakage may occur during transportation, becoming an important source of microplastic pollution. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union have promoted the development of relevant regulations on safe transportation and pollution control.

PREPARATION METHOD
The preparation of plastic particles is mainly divided into primary particle manufacturing and secondary particle preparation. Native particles are usually made from petroleum based or bio based polymers, and resin is obtained through polymerization reactions. The resin masterbatch is mixed, melted, extruded, cooled, and cut into uniform particles with functional fillers, color powders, etc. in a granulator.
Recycled pellets convert waste plastics into reusable plastic pellets by recycling, sorting, cleaning, crushing, melting, modifying, filtering, and finally granulating them.
According to relevant international regulations and initiatives, in order to reduce microplastic pollution, strict loss prevention measures need to be implemented in the production, processing, and transportation of plastic pellets, including training for operators, regular risk assessments, the use of sturdy and tear resistant packaging, the adoption of leak prevention and collection facilities in storage and loading areas, and effective monitoring, with the goal of achieving zero particle loss in the production process. The EU regulations impose strict emission reduction requirements on microplastic leakage during the production and processing of plastic pellets, requiring relevant enterprises to install efficient collection and treatment equipment and conduct regular emission monitoring.

PRODUCT USE
Polypropylene, as a general plastic, is widely used in food packaging, such as foam boxes and plastic cups. It is also used to produce daily necessities and industrial parts through injection molding and other processes, as well as in wire drawing, fiber, film, pipe and other fields. Polypropylene has chemical and heat resistance, making it suitable for injection molding processing.
High density polyethylene and polypropylene recycled particles are used in packaging, automotive components such as bumpers and dashboards, building materials such as pipes, and home appliance casings.
Biobased or biodegradable plastic particles such as PBT and polylactic acid are applied in the field of environmentally friendly products, including fully biodegradable shopping bags, express bags, biodegradable agricultural films, food packaging containers, as well as high-end fields such as spinning and fiber optic sheaths.
