Zinc sulfate monohydrate, chemical formula ZnSO₄·H₂O, CAS number 7446-19-7, molecular weight 179.487, is a white, flowable powder or granules, odorless. Its density is 3.28 g/cm³, boiling point 330°C. It is freely soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in acetone, and highly deliquescent in air. It is produced by reacting zinc oxide or zinc hydroxide with sulfuric acid.

This compound is primarily used as a feed additive, in electrolytic industrial cable galvanizing, in the manufacture of zinc salts and lithopone, as a fruit tree disease control agent, as a wood and leather preservative, as a raw material for artificial fibers, and as a food-grade zinc fortifier.

PRODUCT USES

Zinc sulfate monohydrate is primarily used in agriculture as a zinc fertilizer, supplementing the zinc required for crop growth. It can be used as a base fertilizer, topdressing, or applied via foliar spray or seed soaking. Zinc sulfate monohydrate is also widely used in feed additives, chemicals, defense, fertilizers, mineral processing, pharmaceuticals, rubber, electronics, printing and dyeing agents, as a clarifier and protective agent for bone glue, electroplating, pest control for fruit trees, circulating cooling water treatment, and viscose and nylon fiber production. It is a raw material for the manufacture of zinc salts and lithopone. In the electrolytic industry, it is used for cable galvanizing and electrolytic production of pure zinc. It is also used as a wood and leather preservative and in the man-made fiber industry. Food-grade zinc sulfate is used as a nutritional supplement (zinc fortifier).
