Potassium dihydrogenphosphate is an inorganic salt compound with the chemical formula KH2PO4 and a relative molecular weight of 136.09. It appears as colorless tetragonal crystals or white granular powder, with a density of 2.338 g/cm3 and a melting point of 252.6°C. It is highly deliquescent and soluble in water, with its aqueous solution being weakly acidic. It is insoluble in ethanol. It forms a transparent liquid upon melting and solidifies into an opaque glassy substance (potassium metaphosphate) upon cooling. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate can react with potassium hydroxide to produce dipotassium hydrogen phosphate or potassium phosphate, and with calcium sulfate to produce potassium hydrogen sulfate and calcium hydrogen phosphate.

PRODUCT USES

Industrially, it is used as a buffer and culture medium. It is also used as a bacterial culture medium, a flavoring agent for the synthesis of sake, a raw material for the production of potassium metaphosphate, a culture medium, a fortifier, a bulking agent, and a fermentation aid for brewing yeast. In agriculture, it is used as a high-efficiency phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer. Agricultural and Horticultural Uses

Promotes growth and metabolism

Rapidly replenishes phosphorus and potassium, promotes the synthesis of organic substances such as proteins and carbohydrates, enhances leaf photosynthesis, and promotes strong stems and rich green leaves.

Regulates flower bud differentiation, increases flowering, improves fruit set, and reduces flower and fruit drop.

Improves fruit quality

Spraying during the fruit expansion phase promotes sugar accumulation, improving color and taste in crops such as watermelon, grapes, and tomatoes.

Combined with calcium fertilizer, it reduces fruit cracking (in watermelon) and navel rot (in tomatoes).

Enhances stress tolerance

Improves crop resistance to drought, cold, dry and hot winds, and pests and diseases, and promotes wound healing.
